SPEAKER: Now that you're logged in to talech Mobile, let's go over some critical functions to get you up and running quickly. In this lesson, we'll show you how to-- add categories to your catalog or menu, create items in your store, set up taxes, configure your tip options, if applicable, and we'll cover some general register settings.

A phone appears. Text, Waterfront Mobile. Hi, David! Receipts, Zero, Total, zero dollars. Buttons for Register, Menu, Orders, Invoices, Customers and Settings appear below.

Adding items to talech is easy. From talech Mobile's dashboard, go to Menu or Catalog.

The user clicks Menu, then Categories.
(SPEECH)
It's recommended to create any categories you may need before adding products. If you do not add categories, any items you create will be added to the default category, which can be changed or deleted later.
To add a category, tap the plus button and select New Category.

In an animation, the a user clicks the plus button in the lower right corner, then selects New Category from the menu.
(SPEECH)
Enter the name and choose if you'd like the category to show in the register.

The user enters the name "Snacks" under Name. A slider button for Show Category toggles on and off.
(SPEECH)
You can hide entire categories for things such as seasonal items, then press Save.

The user clicks save in the upper right corner.

Repeat these steps to add more categories.

Snacks, Drinks and Services appear under Menu Items,

If you'd like to change the order in which the categories appear, you can go to the catalog section and drag and drop into the correct order.

Drinks moves to the top of the list.
(SPEECH)
Now, to add the items, again, tap the plus button. But this time, select New Item.
(DESCRIPTION)
The user selects Items, then taps the plus button. After New Item is pressed, a New Item page appears.
(SPEECH)
At a minimum, the item name and category are required. Everything else is optional. You can add a basic product or a service. For this example, we're adding a basic product.
(DESCRIPTION)
The user types the word "chips" under name, followed by $1.50 for the price.
(SPEECH)
Add a name, set the price of an item, and choose which category the item belongs in.
(DESCRIPTION)
Under category, the user selects Snacks.
(SPEECH)
You can further customize the product by applying different applicable taxes, which we'll cover in a few minutes.

A Sales Tax toggle remains off. A Show Item toggle switches off.
(SPEECH)
If you have an item in your store but you're not currently selling it, you can also unselect the Show Item to remove its visibility. This way, the item won't accidentally be sold.

The user turns the toggle on again. The user taps the CH profile icon, then selects a neon yellow underline and changes the name to CHP.

Back at the top, you can change the card color, adjust up to three characters shorthanding, and even add a photo of the item.

The user clicks the Save button.

Once you've entered all the fields required for the product, press the Save button and repeat these steps to add more products.

The user adds Water, W.A., for $1.00 under Drinks.

If you're adding a service, select the service from the dropdown menu. And just like before, add a name.

The user types General, then enters $15 for Price per hour.

You can add your price per hour, or, if the service is a fixed time, you can enable the fixed time and enter the price.

The user toggles on the Fixed Time bar, then taps Padding Time to open the Service Time menu.

With fixed times, you can enter the duration of the service and add any padding time before and after the service if necessary.
(DESCRIPTION)
The user taps the Back button to return to the New Item form.

The rest of the menu steps are the same as before.

The user toggles off the Fixed Time bar, then taps the Save button and returns to the Menu. The user taps on Chips, changes the price to $2, then clicks save.

If you need to make any adjustments to an existing item or service, you can tap on the existing product from the menu or catalog to edit any of the fields.

The user taps the home button to return to the dashboard.

To set up taxes, from the dashboard, go to Settings and Taxes. The default name is Sales Tax.
(DESCRIPTION)
The user taps Sales Tax, then changes the tax amount to 6.25%. The user changes from the percent sign to a dollar sign.
(SPEECH)
When you tap on it, you can rename it, adjust the tax amount, and select if it's dollar amount or a percentage-based tax. Dollar-amount-based taxes are only applicable when the Add Tax to Item Price is selected.

The user clicks the percent sign again.

Alternatively, when using a percentage-based tax, you can select Include Tax in the item price. You can select which categories require this tax.

The user clicks Applicable Categories, then places check marks beside Snacks and Drinks.

If you apply a tax to a category or categories, you do not need to individually enable tax on each product. So this method can save you time.
(DESCRIPTION)
The user clicks the Back button, then taps Save.

Press Save. If you need to add additional taxes, tap the plus button and repeat these steps.

The plus button highlights in the lower right corner. The user taps the Settings button, then taps Tips.

If your business accepts tips, you can enable tips from the Tips section of Settings.

The user toggles on the Enable Tipping button. The user clicks a dollar sign, then a percent sign.

Choose if you'd like a tip suggestion displayed. Select between dollar amount or percentage-based tip selection. Interrupt a three suggested tip amounts.

Text, Tip 1, 15%. Tip 2, 18%. Tip 3, 20%.

Then choose if you'd like one suggested tip amount to be the default shown on the tip screen.

Under Default Tip Suggestion, the user selects Tip 2, 18%, then taps Done, followed by the Settings button.

To configure some general behavior settings, go to Preferences within Settings.

The user taps Preferences.

Choose the default landing view you wish to see when you sign in to talech. This can be the dashboard, the register keypad, or register menu or catalog. The register keypad is helpful if you don't have any items in your store and would like to manually key in the price to charge a customer. You can also enter or change a device name here. This is helpful if you use multiple devices on an account and would like to track which ones are generating more revenue.

The user taps Dashboard, then the Settings button.

Last, go to the Payment section in Settings.

The user taps Payments. then taps the Default Payment Type, set to Credit Card.

Set up the default payment type you'd like to prompt when processing a transaction.

The user presses Done, then the Debit Type, set to No preference, select on payment.

Choose the debit behavior.
(DESCRIPTION)
The user clicks Done, then toggles on the Require Signature button.
(SPEECH)
If you'd like to require a signature on card transactions, you can enable it for all transactions or you can set a threshold amount that will require a signature if the transaction amount is exceeded.

The user selects for purchases over, then types $15. They then select Settings.

With all these settings configured, you're ready to start selling.

However, if you accept card payments via swiping, tapping, or EMV, you'll need to pair a card reader. The next lesson will walk you through configuring and testing your card reader.
